Who We Are

MFC members represent all of Penn’s undergraduate schools and in turn illuminate the multifaceted gem that is microfinance. MFC members study finance, women’s studies, sociology, political science, economics and public policy, amongst other fields.

Because microfinance institutions most usually work to achieve a number of ends, e.g. poverty alleviation, gender equality, business training and increased access to medical treatment, the industry draws together a unique blend of businesspersons, nonprofit organizations, politicians, academics and social activists. Our membership reflects the diverse nature of microfinance.
